Set up a fundraiser - an in-person or online fundraiser around Christmas time is a great way to spread the festive cheer whilst raising funds for charity.
Ask for a donation to your local shelter rather than a gift from family & friends.
Watch out for charity wish lists - most charities will have an online wish list with all of the items they are needing to support their work. Ask family and friends to buy these items to donate as your gift, or select a few yourself to gift to animals in need.
Buy your Christmas cards from an animal charity - many charities sell Christmas cards and stocking fillers and put the funds towards helping to support the animals in their care over the festive period. This is a great way to contribute as you will most likely be buying quite a few Christmas cards anyway, but making a difference at the same time.
