Our new Wilsons to the Rescues Charity! K9 Crusaders
Share
We're thrilled to announce K9 Crusaders as the Autumn charity for our Wilsons to the Rescues campaign. Our pledge to help support rescue dogs across the UK means that every bag of Wilsons sold helps to feed a rescue dog. We'll donate 2.5% of each bag sold over the next three months to the chosen finalist, so if you purchase a 10kg bag we donate 250g to your winning Wilsons to the Rescues charity!
In 2002 Sue Smith, the founder of K9 Crusaders, began publishing a newsletter to educate people in matters of dog husbandry and welfare, but soon found out that members of the public were contacting her for help with getting their dogs rehomed. Sue acted as a clearing house trying to put people in touch with welfare organisations that could accommodate the dogs, but soon discovered that they were all full and many dogs had nowhere to go. At that point K9 Crusaders became more than a provider of useful information and became the bare bones of the welfare organisation it is today and was registered as a dog rescue, rehoming and rehabilitation charity in 2010.
K9 Crusaders rely solely on donations and their own fund-raising and have a small, but dedicated, team that runs the kennels, fundraises, conducts behavioural support and offers advice on any aspect of dogs and their welfare. The health and well-being of their dogs is paramount, with the K9 Crew working tirelessly to find the right home for dogs that need a new family. K9 Crusaders never puts a healthy dog to sleep so dogs will remain as part of the K9 crew family until they are ready to move on to a new life. Because K9 Crusaders offers full rescue back-up with every dog they rehome, their Governing Document lodged with the Charity Commission, restricts them to rehoming in Cornwall. Anyone interested in adopting one of their dogs, please complete the rehoming form on their website.
A quote from the team in Cornwall - "K9 Crusaders are delighted to have won the “Wilsons to the rescues charity campaign” vote and would like to thank our supporters for voting for us. We are a small independent charity but this doesn’t mean our dogs deserve anything less than the best. This win will allow us to serve the kennel dogs the excellent quality food that is Wilsons with all the benefits that brings."
